Study Island due tomorrow!

Evaluating Expressions is due by Friday at 3:00.  All late completions will earn ½ credit.  Encourage your kids to take a vacation to Study Island!

Stacking Cups

This week in math, we completed a problem solving task developing a relationship between Styrofoam cups, graphs, and equations.  How many cups do we need to reach the top of the bulletin board? Students used multiple problem solving strategies to develop the relationship. After finding the pattern and equation, students looked for the relationship between the graph and the equation.  Finally, students applied their method to another type of cups.  Lots of excitement in math class. We hope that students will relate this activity to our upcoming unit in Linear Equations in Pre-Algebra and Systems of Linear Equations in Algebra!

Ready, set, solve!

Date change for the test – Thursday, 10/24/13

Are you ready to solve?  There is a pre-algebra test on solving equations with variables on Thursday, October 24. Tutoring is available before school and at lunch for students who would like to review problems individually with Mr. Volkwein and Ms. Costantino.  This will be the last major assessment for students in pre-algebra during the first quarter.
