Students
are beginning the final phase of their Pittsburgh Project. Over the next
few weeks, students will create scripts for running routes that will feature
some important landmarks throughout the City of Pittsburgh and surrounding
neighborhoods (including a Ben Avon/Emsworth route for all of you local
runners!) Stay tuned to Stay Connected for information about how you can
learn about our city while getting some exercise!

Building Bridges to STEM Careers
Events for Experts in Bridge Design and Construction
May 8 and May 29
Avonworth Middle School, Pittsburgh, PA
As students in the 8th grade proceed through this project, we are seeking help from experts in the fields of engineering and design of bridges. This is the third year for the bridge building and design exposition at Avonworth Middle School! Interested experts can RSVP for our events by emailing Doug Haskins, Grade 8 science teacher.
Pay It Forward Volunteer Symposium
Just a reminder, the Pay It
Forward Volunteer Symposium will be held on Friday April 25 from 1200-130 PM.
Anyone who is interested in learning more about local organizations who rely on
the hard work of volunteers is welcome to attend! Opportunities to become
a volunteer with organizations such as the North Boros Community Food Bank,
Animal Friends, Riding for the Handicapped and many others will be highlighted,
so save the date!
Also note that the student group hosting the Food
Bank is having a food drive in advance of the symposium so please send in
non-perishable food products or bring one along when you come to the symposium!
