This week in math, we completed
a problem solving task developing a relationship between Styrofoam cups,
graphs, and equations. How many cups do we need to reach the top of the
bulletin board? Students used multiple problem solving strategies to develop
the relationship. After finding the pattern and equation, students looked for
the relationship between the graph and the equation. Finally, students
applied their method to another type of cups. Lots of excitement in math
class. We hope that students will relate this activity to our upcoming unit in
Linear Equations in Pre-Algebra and Systems of Linear Equations in Algebra!
